Family Support Worker
A Family Support Worker, offers practical help and emotional support to families experiencing short or long-term difficulties.
The ultimate goal is to empower parents and carers to create a healthier family environment. A family support worker will work to increase the skills, confidence and abilities of all family members to live their daily lives in a positive and safe way.
At Victoria Drive our family support worker can work alongside you in a range of different ways, to assist, support and signpost in identified areas of need.
These include:
- Keeping families safe e.g. looking after health and wellbeing
- Parenting – building good relationships, communicating, developing routines and supporting children’s behaviour
- Educational attendance and achievement
- Supporting transition to a new school
- Social and personal issues
- Mental Health
- Foodbanks, clothes bank and personal care
- Special Educational needs
- Housing & Finances – budgeting, benefits and managing debt
- Domestic Violence
- Bereavement
- Employment – providing training CV and interview preparation
- English Additional Language courses
- Creating new opportunities – helping families take up community activities and make friends and connections
