Family Support Worker

A Family Support Worker, offers practical help and emotional support to families experiencing short or long-term difficulties.

The ultimate goal is to empower parents and carers to create a healthier family environment. A family support worker will work to increase the skills, confidence and abilities of all family members to live their daily lives in a positive and safe way.

At Victoria Drive our family support worker can work alongside you in a range of different ways, to assist, support and signpost in identified areas of need.

These include:

  • Keeping families safe e.g. looking after health and wellbeing
  • Parenting – building good relationships, communicating, developing routines and supporting children’s behaviour
  • Educational attendance and achievement
  • Supporting transition to a new school
  • Social and personal issues
  • Mental Health
  • Foodbanks, clothes bank and personal care
  • Special Educational needs
  • Housing & Finances – budgeting, benefits and managing debt
  • Domestic Violence
  • Bereavement
  • Employment – providing training CV and interview preparation
  • English Additional Language courses
  • Creating new opportunities – helping families take up community activities and make friends and connections
