Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Victoria Drive Pupil Referral Unit runs throughout everything that we do. The premises are secure and safe; resources are stored safely and pupils are taught to use them; Teaching and learning covers areas so that pupils know how to keep themselves safe; staff receive regular support to ensure physical and mental well-being is retained.

There are 3 trained Designated Safeguarding Leads at Victoria Drive PRU: Eileen Shannon (Headteacher), Hannah Clarkson (Deputy Headteacher) and Amy Tomkins (Assistant Headteacher).
We guide our practice using relevant, current legislation such as:
- Keeping children safe in education
- Working together to safeguard children 2018
- The Children’s Act 1989
All staff receive regular Safeguarding training in several key areas including:
- CSE
- Prevent
- Forced marriage
- Peer on Peer abuse
- Anti-bullying
- Keeping Children Safe in Education
- Safeguarding; level 1 to DSL training.
- Domestic Abuse online training November 2020
